Welcome to the 10th Annual Suzanne Mah Memorial Golf Tournament

Who was Suzanne Mah?

Suzanne was a lawyer and lecturer at U of A, who fought for many causes and individual rights. She was the first Canadian woman of Chinese descent to graduate in Law from the U of A. Suzanne was appointed to Commissioner of Human Rights, was a board member of Alberta Cultural Heritage Fund, and lead lawyer (until she became ill) against Principle Group which defrauded its shareholders. She was 36 years of age when she died of cancer.

Where do the Funds Go?

During Suzanne’s battle with cancer, she found humor as a positive distraction, giving her relief from the daily stress. Her wish was for the family to establish a library where future patients can borrow humorous movies and books so they can experience the benefits of laughter.

All proceeds go to the Lite House and Volunteer Services at Cross Cancer Institute. Total contributions from the last 9 golf tournaments have raised over $59,000. Funds have paid for TV rentals for people who cannot afford them, humorous books, tapes & DVDs for the Lite House. Recently, the Volunteer Service used the funds to purchase a large wall-mounted TV for the lounge.

Sunday, August 25, 2019, 8am shotgun start at JR Golf Course

For $130, you get 18 holes, shared golf cart, door prize and lunch at Blue Willow Restaurant.

Listen to Cole and Tyler Benson speak at the luncheon, about life in the hockey world. Cole was an Oil King and won the Memorial Cup in 2014. Tyler is with Oilers’ farm team and will challenge for a position with the Oilers this coming season.

There will be “putt for prizes” prior to the tournament, fun holes, silent auction, raffles and 50/50 tickets. Chance to win/purchase sports memorabilia, jewellery and many more items.
